A new dessert peach selection, PE11-21, is showing real promise as part of our peach range developed for the summer rainfall areas of South Africa. Evaluations in the northern regions have revealed an attractive, firm-melting fruit with excellent eating quality — a peach that combines good looks, great flavour, and solid on-farm performance.
While Temptation has set a strong benchmark in this harvest window, the goal with PE11-21 is not to replace it or extend Temptation’s harvest period, but rather to provide the industry with a similar-looking cultivar that is highly adaptablity in warmer regions and delivers high yields.
Strategically positioned to harvest from mid-October to early November (weeks 43–44), this cultivar brings a valuable advantage to growers: an very attractive, reliable, early and high-yielding dessert peach!
